USD Coin (USDC) price and market data
USD stablecoin · Circle
Short answer: USD Coin is Circle's US dollar stablecoin, issued natively on many blockchains with monthly reserve attestations. The panel below loads its live price, market cap, volume, supply, and 24h/7d/30d performance from named public sources with the as-of time printed on it. The sections after it explain what USD Coin is and how it works, without quoting prices that would go stale.
What is USD Coin?
USDC is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Circle, launched in 2018. Like USDT it targets a price of one dollar, but Circle backs it with cash and short-term US government securities and publishes monthly independent attestations of those reserves. USDC is issued natively on many blockchains rather than bridged between them.
The token is used heavily in decentralized finance and increasingly by payment companies for settlement, where a blockchain transfer can stand in for a slow international wire. USDC remains a centrally issued instrument: Circle controls issuance and redemption, and can freeze addresses when legally required.
How USD Coin works
- Circle mints USDC when customers deposit dollars and burns it on redemption; supply tracks real deposit demand.
- Reserves are held in cash and short-term US Treasuries, with monthly attestation reports from an independent accounting firm.
- The one-dollar price is maintained by arbitrage against Circle's redemption window, the same mechanism other fiat-backed stablecoins use.
- Because USDC is issued natively per chain, moving it between networks uses official bridges or exchange transfers, each with its own risk.
The risk, in plain terms
USDC holders carry Circle's reserve and banking risk. In March 2023 USDC briefly traded below a dollar when part of its reserves was caught in a bank failure, which is the clearest demonstration of that risk.

Frequently asked questions
What is the current price of USD Coin?
The live panel at the top of this page shows the latest USDC price in US dollars, loaded in your browser from the CoinGecko public market API with the CoinPaprika public API as fallback. It refreshes about every two minutes while the page is open and prints its source and as-of time beside the figures. An aggregator price is a market-wide average across exchanges; a single exchange can quote slightly higher or lower at the same moment.
How is USD Coin's market cap calculated?
Market capitalization is the current price multiplied by the circulating supply, the amount of USDC in public hands as reported by the data source. Where the source publishes total and maximum supply, this page shows those beside the circulating figure so the gap is visible. Market cap values the circulating coins at today's price; it is not the amount of money anyone has invested in the asset, and it moves whenever either the price or the reported supply changes.
Is USDC a good investment?
CryptosEyes does not make that call for any asset. This page publishes market data with named sources and explains how USD Coin works, so you can judge it against your own research. The risk to understand first: USDC holders carry Circle's reserve and banking risk. In March 2023 USDC briefly traded below a dollar when part of its reserves was caught in a bank failure, which is the clearest demonstration of that risk.
