Cardano (ADA) price and market data
Layer 1 network · Proof of Stake
Short answer: Cardano is a research-driven proof-of-stake blockchain whose ADA token pays fees and secures the network. The panel below loads its live price, market cap, volume, supply, and 24h/7d/30d performance from named public sources with the as-of time printed on it. The sections after it explain what Cardano is and how it works, without quoting prices that would go stale.
What is Cardano?
Cardano is a proof-of-stake smart contract blockchain developed through peer-reviewed academic research, a slower and more formal path than most of its competitors. Major protocol features are specified in research papers before they are implemented. Its native asset, ADA, pays transaction fees, secures the network through staking, and votes on protocol governance.
Cardano's staking is non-custodial and liquid: ADA stays in the holder's own wallet while it is delegated to a stake pool, so it can be spent or moved at any time. Supporters credit the research-first approach with the network's stability record; critics point to the slower rollout of features that faster-moving chains shipped earlier.
How Cardano works
- The Ouroboros proof-of-stake protocol selects block producers from stake pools in proportion to delegated ADA.
- Anyone can run a stake pool or delegate to one; rewards come from transaction fees and a declining reserve.
- ADA supply is capped at 45 billion, with the remainder of issuance released gradually through staking rewards.
- Smart contracts run in a UTXO-based model extended from Bitcoin's design, which makes transaction outcomes more predictable before submission.
The risk, in plain terms
ADA is volatile, and Cardano's measured development pace means competing networks may capture use cases first. Delegation rewards also vary by pool performance.

Frequently asked questions
What is the current price of Cardano?
The live panel at the top of this page shows the latest ADA price in US dollars, loaded in your browser from the CoinGecko public market API with the CoinPaprika public API as fallback. It refreshes about every two minutes while the page is open and prints its source and as-of time beside the figures. An aggregator price is a market-wide average across exchanges; a single exchange can quote slightly higher or lower at the same moment.
How is Cardano's market cap calculated?
Market capitalization is the current price multiplied by the circulating supply, the amount of ADA in public hands as reported by the data source. Where the source publishes total and maximum supply, this page shows those beside the circulating figure so the gap is visible. Market cap values the circulating coins at today's price; it is not the amount of money anyone has invested in the asset, and it moves whenever either the price or the reported supply changes.
Is ADA a good investment?
CryptosEyes does not make that call for any asset. This page publishes market data with named sources and explains how Cardano works, so you can judge it against your own research. The risk to understand first: ADA is volatile, and Cardano's measured development pace means competing networks may capture use cases first. Delegation rewards also vary by pool performance.
