Monero (XMR) price and market data

Privacy coin · Proof of Work

Short answer: Monero is a privacy-by-default currency where every transaction hides sender, receiver, and amount. The panel below loads its live price, market cap, volume, supply, and 24h/7d/30d performance from named public sources with the as-of time printed on it. The sections after it explain what Monero is and how it works, without quoting prices that would go stale.

What is Monero?

Monero is a privacy-by-default cryptocurrency launched in April 2014. Where Zcash makes privacy a choice, Monero applies it to every transaction: ring signatures hide which of several possible senders actually paid, stealth addresses prevent receivers from being linked to payments, and confidential transactions hide amounts. Its ledger cannot be browsed to follow money between addresses the way Bitcoin's can.

Monero is mined with RandomX, a proof-of-work algorithm designed to run efficiently on ordinary computer processors rather than specialized hardware, which keeps mining open to home computers. Since 2022 a small fixed tail emission of 0.6 XMR per block continues indefinitely, paying miners a predictable subsidy now that the main emission schedule has ended.

How Monero works

  • Each payment mixes the real spent output with decoy outputs in a ring signature, so an observer sees a group of possible senders, not one.
  • One-time stealth addresses are generated for every payment, so receiving addresses never appear on the ledger in reusable form.
  • RingCT hides transaction amounts while still letting the network verify that inputs and outputs balance.
  • RandomX proof of work favors general-purpose CPUs, a deliberate attempt to keep mining decentralized and ASIC resistant.

The risk, in plain terms

XMR's strong privacy has led major exchanges to delist it in several jurisdictions, which can cut liquidity suddenly. It remains volatile like any mined currency.

Every figure on this page comes from the named public source printed beside it. If a feed fails, the panel says so instead of presenting old numbers as live. Read the methodology for how CryptosEyes sources market data, and the disclaimer before acting on anything you read here.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current price of Monero?

The live panel at the top of this page shows the latest XMR price in US dollars, loaded in your browser from the CoinGecko public market API with the CoinPaprika public API as fallback. It refreshes about every two minutes while the page is open and prints its source and as-of time beside the figures. An aggregator price is a market-wide average across exchanges; a single exchange can quote slightly higher or lower at the same moment.

How is Monero's market cap calculated?

Market capitalization is the current price multiplied by the circulating supply, the amount of XMR in public hands as reported by the data source. Where the source publishes total and maximum supply, this page shows those beside the circulating figure so the gap is visible. Market cap values the circulating coins at today's price; it is not the amount of money anyone has invested in the asset, and it moves whenever either the price or the reported supply changes.

Is XMR a good investment?

CryptosEyes does not make that call for any asset. This page publishes market data with named sources and explains how Monero works, so you can judge it against your own research. The risk to understand first: XMR's strong privacy has led major exchanges to delist it in several jurisdictions, which can cut liquidity suddenly. It remains volatile like any mined currency.
