Stellar (XLM) price and market data

Layer 1 network · Payments

Short answer: Stellar is a payments network for moving value between currencies, overseen by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation. The panel below loads its live price, market cap, volume, supply, and 24h/7d/30d performance from named public sources with the as-of time printed on it. The sections after it explain what Stellar is and how it works, without quoting prices that would go stale.

What is Stellar?

Stellar is a payments-focused blockchain network launched in 2014 to move value between currencies cheaply. Money enters the network through anchors, regulated entities that hold deposits and issue corresponding digital credits, travels across the ledger in seconds for a fraction of a cent, and leaves as a different currency or asset at the other end.

XLM, the native asset, pays the network's small transaction fees and is required as a minimum balance in every account, which makes spam expensive to scale. Stellar is overseen by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation and aimed at payment companies, remittance services, and financial access use cases rather than at trading speculation.

How Stellar works

  • The Stellar Consensus Protocol uses federated Byzantine agreement: each node chooses a set of trusted peers (a quorum slice), and overlapping trust produces network-wide agreement in seconds without mining or staking.
  • Anchors issue credits for deposited fiat on the ledger; those credits trade and settle against each other and against XLM.
  • Every account must hold a small minimum XLM balance, and each transaction pays a tiny fee, both anti-spam mechanisms.
  • The network also supports issued assets and a built-in decentralized exchange, letting anchors' credits trade directly on the ledger.

The risk, in plain terms

XLM's value depends on payment adoption of one network, and anchor credits carry the counterparty risk of their issuers. The asset itself is volatile.

Every figure on this page comes from the named public source printed beside it. If a feed fails, the panel says so instead of presenting old numbers as live. Read the methodology for how CryptosEyes sources market data, and the disclaimer before acting on anything you read here.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current price of Stellar?

The live panel at the top of this page shows the latest XLM price in US dollars, loaded in your browser from the CoinGecko public market API with the CoinPaprika public API as fallback. It refreshes about every two minutes while the page is open and prints its source and as-of time beside the figures. An aggregator price is a market-wide average across exchanges; a single exchange can quote slightly higher or lower at the same moment.

How is Stellar's market cap calculated?

Market capitalization is the current price multiplied by the circulating supply, the amount of XLM in public hands as reported by the data source. Where the source publishes total and maximum supply, this page shows those beside the circulating figure so the gap is visible. Market cap values the circulating coins at today's price; it is not the amount of money anyone has invested in the asset, and it moves whenever either the price or the reported supply changes.

Is XLM a good investment?

CryptosEyes does not make that call for any asset. This page publishes market data with named sources and explains how Stellar works, so you can judge it against your own research. The risk to understand first: XLM's value depends on payment adoption of one network, and anchor credits carry the counterparty risk of their issuers. The asset itself is volatile.
